Vera Lynn, When the Lights Go On Again

Friday 5th June.

08:00 Continental breakfast at hotel

10:00 Visit to Pegasus Bridge, Café Gondrée, Colleville-Montgomery, the Bénouville Cemetery and Juno beach...

The D-Day Revisited group visited Pegasus Bridge and the adjoined museum. They arrived just in time to see the parachute drop to mark the airborne phase of the Normandy Landings that launched the beginning of the end of World War II. This visit was especially poignant
for those members of the group who had served with the Parachute Regiment.

Several veterans received a warm welcome at Café Gondrée, the first home to be liberated.

The group then traveled to Colleville-Montgomery and lunched next to the Montgomery Statue whilst enjoying the sunshine!

Services were held at both monuments and at the cemetery in Bénouville. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Chester and Wirral branch of the Normandy Veterans Association. The Veterans drew quite a crowd and members of the public were pleased to have the opportunity to witness this tribute so closely.
